Harold Bloom,a distinguished contemporary American literary critic, employs his theory of anxiety with psychoanalysis of Freudian theory in his famous work, The Western Canon, in which he makes a detailed and persuasive comparison of 26 famous classical writers and their works.This paper intends to explore upon Bloom＇s poetic thought and his understanding about canon work while observing critically about his viewpoints about aesthetics and reflecting upon the conflict and coexistence between literary study and cultural criticism.
