The cylindrical jade vessel with bevel mouth is typical jade of Hongshan Culture. There are some views as to their function. Some scholars thought that the shape of these vesseloriginated from the turtle shell after that some jade turtles were unearthed from No. 23 tomb at Linjiatan of Hanshancounty in the Anhui province in 2007. But after arranging all the shapes and position of these jade vessels with bevel mouth, the paper argued that the shape of these vessels was from the shape of insect pupa and hoped the dead could get the second life after eclosionlike silkworm chrysalis. So, whatever shape origin or function, these vessels of Hongshan Culture are completely deferent from the jade turtle of Linjiatan tomb though they weresimilar inshape.
