The development of alternative energy was the urgent affairs of humans due to the lack of fossil fuels. Biodiesel is a green and renewable energy and will replace the conventional chemical diesel with wide development foreground and potential. The paper summaries the acid catalyst and alkali catalyst＇s application in the production of biodiesel and focuses on the effect of catalysis in the production methods of biodiesel. The future development of biodiesel applications is also prospected.
