The issue of cultural identity is the symbol of a diaspora race or an individual to define its cultural characteristics as well as its root to achieve a sense of self. It is, especially, the focus of a minority ethnic group struggling for an authentic being. Richard Wright, Ralph Ellison, and Toni Morrison, representatives of American black writers of generations, explore the identity pursuit in their masterpieces from different perspectives, which reveals that only through finding their own roots - their traditional culture - can the black get the power that can e.ompare with the white, thus achieving their spiritual rebirth and finding their authentic existence.
