Between Reality and the Ideal:the Paradox of Modernity and the Utopia of University

我国大学正在快速发展,但也日益面临发展所带来的急功近利、心态浮躁等诸多困扰,在理想与现实、道与技、学与术等方面都片面强调一方,从而日益偏离了大学立世的本来之义与理想追求。大学发展的这种现代性悖论,正呼唤着以批判超越性的理想主义为精神本质的乌托邦精神,以使现实大学与理想大学之间保持必要的张力,助推大学理想的回归并向理想大学迈进。

In its rapid development, Chinese university has increasingly faced many other problems, such as eager for quick success, impetuous attitude etc. that have been brought along by the development. The one- sided emphasis on those aspects as ideal and reality, principle and technique, science and technology has made the university gradually diverged from its righteousness and its ideal the first day when itwas created. The para- dox of modernity in the university development is calling for Utopian spirit with the spiritual nature of critical- ness, transcendence and idealism, so that it can accomplish to maintain the necessary tension between the uni- versity and the ideal university. Meanwhile, it boosts the return of the university ideal and strides forward to the ideal university.
