A Brief Discussion of Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi’s Thought about Filial Piety

二程在其哲学本体论中对孝进行了天理化论证。二程对孝的天理化论证是通过仁完成的。经此论证,孝从人伦上升为天理。二程工夫修养论中孝的实践方法是围绕着如何使孝始于经验而超越经验来进行的。其内容包括孝的动机、孝心的生成方式、行孝的基本心态、孝的具体内容以及孝的实践方式。

Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi demonstrated filial piety as unalterable principle in their ontology. They illustrated it via Ren or benevolence. Hence filial piety became heavenly principles rather than feudal ethics since then. Practical method of filial piety focued on how to begin with experience and transcending experience in their theory of Kung fu, which included motivation, generation and essential mentality of filial piety, elementary contents and practice mode of filial piety.
