Objective To investigate the association between glutathione S -transferase M1 (GSTM1) and T1 (GSTTl) polymorphisms and vitiligo susceptibility. Methods Pubmed, Embase, CNKI, VIP, and Wanfang Data before March 2013 were searched to get case control studies. Meta - analysis was conducted by using Revman 5.0. 0 software. Results Four case - control studies with 1 218 patients and 1 563 healthy controls were included. Meta - analysis showed there are signifi- cant differences between GSTM1, GSTY1 and vitiligo susceptibility [GSTM1 Null vs. GSTM1 Present: OR = 1.50, 95% CI ( 1.12, 2.02), P = 0.007 ; GSTI?I Null vs. GSTI'I Present: OR = 1.30, 95% CI ( 1.12, 1.52), P = 0. 0008 ; GSTM1/ GSTI'I Null/Null vs. GSTM1/GSTrl Present/Present: OR = 1.62, 95% CI (1.25, 2. 11 ), P = 0. 0003 ] . Conclusion GSTM1 and GSTY1 polymorphisms are related with vitiligo susceptibility, Null genotypes of GSTM1 and GSTY1 may increase the risk of vitiligo, and they may enhance the risk of vitiligo synergistically.
