苏童的处女长篇《米》,以小说主人公五龙的人生遭际为主要线索,在城乡空间背景的腾挪位移下,勘探人性的深度、广度、强度以及韧度,展示小人物的命运悲喜,揭示社会历史的波诡云谲,叩问人的生存困境。小说情节曲折而不失严谨,叙述精到且颇有技巧,既是苏童长篇小说的牛刀初试,开始其新的艺术经验的尝试,同时也是苏童为中国当代长篇小说的艺术追求提供的一种新的可能性。
Rice is a maiden novel by SU Tong.With its leading character WU Long＇s life experience as the main clue, the novel explores the depth, width, strength and tenacity of the human nature, reflects the joys and sorrows of the fate of ordi- nary people, reveals the funny old social background, criticizes and suspects the plight of human existence. It has a compli- cated plot without sacrificing academic rigor.
