The Most Important Thing is Popular——Study on Chen Zi-bao's Textbooks

陈子褒(1862-1922)早年就设馆教学,并游学日本,关注妇孺教育,一生致力于蒙学课本的编撰,被誉为"东方之裴斯泰洛齐"。他是全国通俗教材编著最多的作家,所编著的教材集中在妇孺教材和字课教材两大类。他的教材注重服务于妇女儿童,力行白话语文,重视课本质量,课本地域特色明显,且关注儿童兴趣与能力,注重传播新思想新道德。

Chen Zi-bao（1862-1922）, set up teaching school in his youth and studied tour in Japan, concerned women and children education, devoted his life to compile Enlightenment textbooks. He was known as the ＂Oriental Pestalozzi＂, and he was the country＇s most popular textbook writers. His edited books focus on two categories： women and children＇ teaching materials and textbooks for teaching words. His textbooks focus on serving for women and children, exercising the vernacular language, paying attention to textbooks＇ quality. Textbooks has obvious geographical characteristics, and concerns for the children＇ interest and ability, textbooks focus on dissemination of new ideas and new morals.
