Since the Qing dynasty, because of various historical reasons, Hui have migrated from Shannxi, Gansu, Qinghai and Ningxia to reside in Yanqi, Xinjiang. During this time, the Northwest "Huaer" folk songs spread throughout this area. The main singers of Yanqi "Huaer" are Hui people, with some Hui singers considered to be the inheritors of an intangible cultural legacy (the "Huaer" folk songs) of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Re- gion. The Yanqi Hui "Huaer" folk songs have been propagating through the Hui even up to now, this kind of folk culture is being passed on and developed in the form of a "Huaer Grand Stage".
