The GIS (Geographic Information System) is being applied in distribution system more and more widely. This paper summarizes the fundamental application of GIS , introduces the applications of GIS to the management of distribution network information, the management of transformer load,and the contingency load transfer,based on GIS,and the integration of GIS with SCADA in distribution.
