Deng Xiaoping's theoretical contribution to socialist democracy with Chinese characteristics

十一届三中全会以后,邓小平对什么是社会主义民主以及怎样建设社会主义民主等重大问题进行了深刻反思,鲜明地提出了"没有民主就没有社会主义,就没有社会主义现代化;必须使党和国家的民主生活制度化、法律化;民主政治建设必须从国情出发,决不能照搬西方那一套"等重要思想。探讨邓小平对中国特色社会主义民主政治建设的理论贡献,对于坚持中国特色社会主义理论体系,走中国特色社会主义政治发展道路,具有重要的理论意义和现实意义。

After the convening of the 3rd Plenary Session of the 11th CPC Central Committee,Comrade Deng Xiaoping made a thorough review of socialist democracy.Without the progess of democracy,the socialist course cannot last long,let alone the socialist modernization,Deng observed.The democratic practice of the Party as well of the nation should be realized within the framework of law and should conform to the situation in China.Besides,the nation should not copy foreign things blindly from the West.To date,it is of great practical and theoretic significance to probe Deng＇s thinking on socialist democracy with Chinese characteristics.
