潮汕先民在长期的生产生活实践中,创造了风情万种的民间生育习俗,包括生育崇拜、祈子习俗、分娩习俗、生育礼俗、禁忌习俗等方面。潮汕民间生育习俗是潮汕传统社会发展的产物,反映了潮汕民间对生育的高度重视,具有明显的传承性与地方特色,体现了潮汕人浓重的重男轻女生育观,具有一定的落后愚昧成分与消极影响,也具有一定的科学成分与积极意义。随着社会进步,潮汕民间生育习俗与其他民俗一样不可避免地发生流变。必须采取有效措施,促进潮汕民间生育习俗的传统守成与现代变革,构建健康文明的现代潮汕民间生育文化。

In the long practice of production and life, Chaoshan＇s ancestors have created their fork birth customs which have exceedingly fascinating charm, including reproductive worship, son praying, childbirth, the manners of birth, taboo, etc. The fork birth customs in Chaoshan, which reflect that the chaoshan folk highly favors the birth of boys and discriminates girls, not only have some backward elements and negative influence, but also have some scientific elements and positive significance. With the development of the society, like other folks, Chaoshan folk birth customs inevitably are changing. It is necessary to take some effective measures to promote the traditional customs and modern revolution of the fork birth customs in Chaoshan in order to build healthy and civilized modem chaoshan folk culture.
