This study exams 6 novels taken from modern Korean literature from the perspective of imagology. The expressions for China,"the other",in these 6 novels change with the times. It is this kind of change that reflects the identity vicissitude of "the self"--namely modern Korean literature. It is found that modern Korean literature was deeply bound to the historical context and the images of the Chinese people have always been influenced by the whole society's impression on China. The images of the Chinese people in different ages reflect the political and cultural psychologies of the Korean nation and even the status of Sino-Korean relationship at different times.
