Toxoplasmosis is a worldwide zoonosis caused by Toxoplasma gondii which can intect human and almost all warm-blooded animals. Cats are important in the epidemiology of Toxoplasma gondii infection because they are the only definitive host which can excrete the environmental resistant oocysts. The prevalence and risk factors for Toxoplasma gondii infection in cats should not be ignored because of more contact with cat in daily life. The prevalence and risk factors for Toxoplasma gondii infection in cats in Europe and America were reviewed in the present paper.
