Unconventional natural gas resources mainly include tight sandstone gas, coal-bed methane, shale gas and natural gas hydrate. In this article, the development situation of all kinds of unconventional natural gas in the world was introduced as well as the research status and development trend of unconventional natural gas in China. The research on unconventional natural gas in China indicated that China abounds in unconventional natural gas resources. With the improvement of recognition level in China, the breakthrough of theory and technology, and the improvement of economic conditions, there are broad development prospects for unconventional natural gas resources in China.
