Civil watercrafts are the main market with which marine navigation radars are concerned. The requirements of low cost and appropriate performances determine that the developing progress of marine radars are entirely different from that of other military radars. In this paper, the market status, present main technology and future tendency of marine radars are reviewed, some latest applications instead of navigation, such as security ＆ surveillance and protection of ecological environment, are introduced.
