From the “Central Plains”to China:the Agricultural Essence of Chinese Culture

中国文化是农耕文明的产物,土地的本性最根本地决定着中国文化的属性。就中国传统农业与文化的关系看,中国文化重视人与自然的关系,所谓"天人合一"根本地体现为农耕生产方式对土地或自然的高度依附性,而中国文化的人本精神、伦理取向和对自然时空审美价值的发现,均直接来自农耕文明的孕育。在中国历史上,农业的发展与中国文化的传播具有协同关系,劝农传统、移民政策和屯田制度等,是中国文化确立其影响力并外向扩张的最重要手段。

The Chinese culture has been the product of agricultural civilization, and the nature of land has decisively determined the attributes of Chinese culture. As to the relations between China＇s traditional agriculture and culture, the Chinese culture emphasizes the relationship between man and nature, and the so-called ＂oneness of man and nature＂ is embodied as the highly adhesive property of agricultural methods to land or natural environment. The humanistic essence of Chinese culture, together with its ethical orientation and aesthetic value of the natural space, had come directly from the farming civilization. In Chinese history, the development of agriculture and the spread of Chinese culture had a synergistic relationship. The convention of encouraging farming, immigration policies, and farming system, among other, had functioned as the most important means for Chinese culture to establish its influence and make outward expansion.
