Prince假定熟悉度理论广泛应用于句法、话语分析、写作教学等领域,研究信息状态和语言现象之间的关系。理论局限于名词表征的话语实体的认知状态,不少研究根据需要对她的理论进行修改、扩展等。通过什么方式科学地判断实体的听者状态,即听者新和听者旧,是一个挑战。
The theory of Assumed Familiarity by Prince is widely applied to syntax,discourse analysis and writing to investigate the relationship between information status and linguistic phenomena.Her theory is confined to noun phrases and therefore modified and extended.How to scientifically decide on the hearer status of discourse entities,i.e.hearer-new and hearer-old,is a great challenge.
