The Altair and Vega Gods belong to the Chinese traditional twenty-eight constellations, originating from Han River Basin as far as we know. Literatures, during Warring States and Han periods to Sui and Tang dynasties, also reflect the connections between the Han River Basin and the Altair, Vega and the galaxy. RI SHU, among a wide variety of Qin bamboo slips, which were unearthed in Shuihu- di, Yunmeng, Hubei Province in the winter of 1975, has two records related to Altair and Vega. It suggests that the stories of Altair and Vega are folklores spread early in Chu and Han River Basin. Altair, Vega and the galaxy are three main cultural elements of these folk- lores. The galaxy, namely the Milky Way, derives its cultural imagery from the Han River. The throe cultural elements broaden the imag- ination space for the literary men to poeticize the stories of Altair and Vega from a level of combining human beings and nature and the throe elements characterize the stories as mysterious Han River Cultural signs.
