During a switch's work time, the high temperature forms a molten pool on its surface and that results in the ejection of the contact material, which is considered as one of the important ways to arc erosion. In this paper, by computation of the temperature field, many factors that affect the size of molten pool were analyzed. The results show that the thermal power P and the current intercept moment t 0 affect the size of the molten pool obviously.
