Ontario, Canada is abundant in mineral resources mainly including nickel, copper, PGE, gold, iron, silver, zinc, molybdenum, uranium, lead, chromium, Lithium, Titanium, Tungsten and other seven kinds of nonferrous metals deposits, most of them formed in the periods from Neo - Proterozoic to meso - Arehaean. According to their geological background and structural charac- teristics, all the above -mentioned mineral resources can be divided into 17 third -class structural units and 6 important metallogenic belts as followings : (1) Abitibi Au - Cu - Ni - Fe metallogenic belt ; (2) Cobalt Cu - Ni - PGE - Uranium metallogenic belt ; (3) Uehi Au -Cu metallogenic belt; (4) Wabigoon Au -Cu -Fe metallogenic belt; (5) Wawa Au -Cu -Fe metallogenic belt; (6) Grenville Zn- Fe - Uranium metallogenie belt. The deposit types in Ontario Province mainly include magmatic type copper - nickel deposit, greenstone -hosted type gold deposit, VMS type deposit, porphyry type copper and molybdenum deposit, SEDEX type deposit, kimberlite type diamond deposit, of which, the magmatic type copper - nickel deposit and greenstone - hosted type gold deposit are the more signifi- cant deposit types for their superior mineral resources and should be paid attention to explore.
