丹阳市购物场所公示语翻译调查研究

摘要 双语标识语是城市对外开放和交流的窗口和媒介之一。通过对丹阳市购物场所公示语翻译现状实地调查,了解了丹阳市购物场所公示语翻译现状。结果显示,丹阳市的大型超市、百货商店、银行和购物广场都有汉英公示语,大多数公示语的翻译都比较规范恰当,特别是银行的英语翻译,但有些地方还存在着一些问题或错误,这些错误主要为词法、句法等语言性翻译失误。根据纽马克交际翻译理论,公示语翻译主要采用直译、意译或归化的翻译方法。汉英公示语的翻译要求译者有较强的英汉语言能力和对英汉文化差异的敏感性。 Bilingual signs are important media for facilitating the opening up of a city to international exchanges. In order to know the status quo of C-E translations of public signs at the shopping places in Danyang, a field survey was carried out in Danyang. Results show that Bilingual public signs are widely used in some large supermarkets, department stores, banks and plazas. Most of the signs are cotrect and proper, especially in the banks. However, many problems or errors still exist in C-E public signs in Danyang. Most of the errors are linguistic translation errors such as spelling mistakes, misuse of words and grammatical mistakes. Under the guidance of Newmark' s communicative theory of translation, some C-E translation strategies or techniques on C-E translation of public signs were put forward. The main ones are literal translation, liberal translation or adaptation and so on. C-E translation of public signs demands that the translators not only have a good command of both Chinese and English but also acquire sensitivity to the cultural differences.
