青年与梦——《美国的悲剧》与《人生》之比较

The Youth and Dreams——the comparative study of An American Tragedy and Life

文章通过对美国作家德莱塞的长篇小说《美国的悲剧》和中国作家路遥的中篇小说《人生》中两个青年主人公逐梦的历程——梦的孕育、形成、追求直至最后破灭的比较分析,揭示出青年人在社会变革中的心态、行为、伦理道德,结合故事中主人公所处的时代现状,得出结论:在变革的社会里,青年既是时尚群体,又是弱势群体,社会既是青年人施展才华的舞台,也是断送他们前程甚至生命的陷阱。所以在梦的追逐过程中青年应不断的成长,进行有价值判断的选择,从而能够真正的实现梦想。

Having dreams and pursuing dreams are the characteristics of young people.Based on the comparative study of the two young protagonists from the American writer Theodore Dreiser’s novel An American Tragedy and the Chinese writer Lu Yao’s novella Life,the author analyzes their journey of pursuing dreams.Both are experiencing the route——the gestation,formation,aspiration and the disillusion of their dreams.The analysis reveals the state of young people’s mentality,behavior and morality in social changes.Combined with the era in which the heroes are living,the paper concludes the youth are both fashionable groups and vulnerable groups in the changing society;the society is both the stage for the young people to give full play to their talents and the trap which can ruin their future even their lives.Therefore,in the process of pursuing dreams,young people should constantly make choices that accord with the right values and grow to maturity in mental,which can truly realize their dreams.
