During the Japanese colonial period, Taiwan' s sugar industry is the key for the colonial governor' s management over economy. Sugar industry not only brings high profits to Imperial Japanese, but also becomes a new direction with the colonial governor's blueprint for Taiwan's future. This paper is based on media reports and documentary works in different historical level and condition of Taiwan. We can see the intellectuals' discussion of the public policy and resource allocation of sugar industry, the peasant movement and the individual consciousness of sugarcane growers. Thus we can study the mind of hybridity and ambiguity of colonial modernity
