Sally Morgan's My Place has exposed the shocking situation of indigenous black peo- ple in the past through memories and records of three generations to all people, including those Aborig- inal offsprings who dont know the situation and many white people who know nothing about it, serving as a counter history against the fictional white history. Only in retelling and reconstructing their own history can indigenous people ( including Sally Morgan and other narrators) find their place and restore their indigenous nature -- the cultural identity that the white people have tried to erase. By probing into the causes of the tragedies of the characters concerned, the author attempts to uncover the truth a- bout the complicated dominant white culture and the patriarchal functions in repressing the indigenous.
