One afternoon in September a sallow faced middle-aged woman arrived at the Shanghai branch of Chinas Merchants Bank where an elevator then took her to the banks private banking center where the branch's financial advisor and another financial advisor that had just flown in from the banks head office in Shenzhen awaited her.This middle-aged woman is named Deng Ru,the wife of a chairman of one of Chinas famous manufacturing enterprises.Also joining in the meeting were several administration personal from her family's company.The goal of the day: to establish a Family Trust Fund for Deng Ru and her family.Trust Funds are still a rather mysterious and not quite mature industry within China;the dark side of which became apparent when Gu Kailai made it publicly known the complicated steps she used to sidestep Chinas legal system in order to purchase a mansion on the French Riviera.
