General condition and features of the Yellow River were briefed. Requirements of river basin economic and social development to protec- tion and management of the Yellow River were examined from the point of flood protection, water resources management, ecological civilization building and integrated river＂ basin management. The significances of planning to the Yellow River development, water-related affairs management, social and economic development and ecological civilization building were summarized. Key measures as ＂six systems＂ shown in the plan and im- plementation results were evaluated, including water-sediment control, flood prevention and siltation reduction, control of soil erosion, rational a/lo- cation of water and efficient utilization, water resources and water ecological protection and integrated river basin management.
