The future library is a compound of traditional library and virtual library and the ＂third space＂ of a city in which the information technology will be widely applied and popularized and its layout will be more suitable for the study habits of readers. The future library will become a leisure and culture center of multimedia. Popularizing activities, social media, digital circulation and digital reference are the 4 factors that influence the development of library. Thus, importance should be attached to the value of library as the ＂third space＂ of a city, the construction of human resource, the popularization and use of new technologies in order to speed up the healthy development of librarianship and meet the challenge of new technologies.
