摘要
本文尝试将美国心理学家弗鲁姆于1964年提出的期望激励理论应用于大学英语教学来激发学生的学习动机,达到改善大学英语教学质量的目的。从期望激励理论的概念出发,依据期望激励理论的及时性、目的性、针对性三原则,阐述期望理论在大学英语教学过程中的具体应用以及使用期望激励理论时应注意的两点:容忍学生间存在的差异和耐心等待学生取得进步。
This article attempts to take advantage of Expectancy Theory put forward in 1964 by American psychologist Victor H. Vroom in college English teaching and learning to stimulate students' learning motivation so as to achieve the goal of improving the quality of college English teaching. Starting from the concept of Expectancy Theory, based on its three principles of timeliness, objectivity and purposiveness, the article exemplifies the theory's application in the process of college English teaching and learning. It also suggests the importance for teachers to tolerate the differences among students and to be patient to see students make progress.
