舜帝是中华民族共同敬仰崇拜的祖先之一,他的德行也为儒家所推崇。随着儒学传入,日本在此基础上弘扬了舜帝的德行功绩。到江户时代,日本在学术、建筑、美术等领域都确立了有关舜帝的崇拜。近代之后,随着日本对中国的侵略扩张,一部分知识分子对舜帝进行了质疑和否定。"二战"后,舜帝作为对外宣扬和平、对内施行教化的人物形象,再次被日本利用。日本人的舜帝观变迁是其儒学发展的重要表征。

The Emperor Shun is one of the ancestors respected and worshiped by the Chinese people and his conduct is also praised highly by Confucianism. Along with the Confucianism spreading into Japan, Japan also praised highly the achievements made by the Emperor Shun. During the Edo period, Japan established the worship of the Em-peror Shun in learning, architecture, art and other fields. In modern times when Japan invaded China, some of the in-tellectuals questioned and denied the Emperor Shun. After the world war II, as the model of preaching peace, dili-gence and enlightenment, the Emperor Shun once again regarded and reutilized by Japanese. The changes of view on the Emperor Shun is an important characterization of Japan＇s Confucianism development, and it also reflected the Emperor Shun＇ s spiritual value in east Asia.
