Pearl S. Buck is a significant figure in the history of 20th century Sino-American rela tionship. But in the first 38 years of PRC (1950 1987), she was misread, misinterpreted and even forgotten and abandoned due to the "class struggle" ideology. After China was once again opened up, the ban on her works was eventually lifted and the judgment of her works become more and more objective and rational.
