Objective:To observe the external morphology of Calogyphus berlesei(C.berlesei) in its major development stage. Methods:The feed samples were obtained from a feed mill, and the mites were isolated and purified via rinsing. After preparation of the glass samples, the specimens were observed with light microscope. Results:Under the light microscope, the adult female mites exhibits colorless idiosoma ,with smooth and bright external surface and 4 pairs of light brownish legs. The idiosoma looks much more rounded and expanded, and 4 pairs of setae arise from the back. The entire bristles at the dorsal area appear totally smooth and wid-en at their bases except internal verticals(vi). The genital sensillum is larger and apparent, and 6 pairs of anal setae are slim, arising from around the anus.Contrarily, the idiosoma of an adult male is smaller than the fe-male,and exhibits itself with spindly shape which has longer setae .The remaining structures look similar to that of the female′s except for typical-ly ossified penis and round anal sucker seen at the genital area. The egg, in which immature larvae are more frequent,is ovally shaped, offwhite and semitransparent. The larva bears 3 pairs of legs, and the coxal rod(CR)is well-developed,which is in nature a hollow canal extended from the tip head .C onclusion:The morphology for C.berlesei examined at its major development stage will supply direct and objective evidence for identifica-tion of this mite .
