Miss Emily in Faulkner’s A Rose for Emily lived in a world which was like a carceral society,in which she was gazed,in which she was controlled and punished by disciplinary power---male-dominated culture.In the fight against disciplinary power,she lost completely.Because disciplinary power can be internalized to be a kind of self-supervision,Miss Emily thought that her fight against traditional womanhood value was wrong.This strong psychological pressure maybe is the cause of her isolated tragic life.
