Research into AT Classification Method Used in the Story of XiaYulai

夏雨来故事是潮汕家喻户晓的民间故事。根据AT分类法,夏雨来故事属于人物类传奇故事,故事定位为机智故事,其宗旨为惩恶扬善。通过比较艾伯华列出的夏雨来引文与笔者收集的夏雨来异文,艾伯华的"AT分类法"编制夏雨来故事主题类型索引中得不到全面而集中的反映,这种索引的价值则将会大打折扣。

The story of Xia Yulai is a household story in Chaoshan area of Guangdong Province. According to AT classification method, stories of Xia fall into human legends, belonging to wit stories aiming at punishing evil doers at the same time applauding good will activities. When comparing our collection of Xia’s stories with Eberhard’s index of Xia’s, this paper finds that there is a shortcoming in Eberhard’s AT classification method for the theme. It cannot comprehensively and exactly reflect Xia’s stories. Hence, the index value would be greatly discounted.
