A survey of 2012 ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress ＆ Exposition （IMECE2012） was introduced, and some developing trends of mechanical engineering were analyzed from the paper publications of the conference. The most distinctive developing features of current mechan- ical engineering are： informatization, miero-nano-technology, combination with biomedicine, sustainable development, etc. In the new century, mechanical engineering is still innovating and developing continu- ously, remaining one of the fundamental and main technologies for national economy.
