Assessing Current Stage of Economic Development in Africa

准确判断非洲国家的经济发展阶段及其相应的优势、诉求与约束,是把握中非之间经济互补、推动中非互利共赢合作的基础。依托传统工业化阶段理论、国家竞争发展阶段理论和新结构经济学理论及其评价方法,综合考察当前非洲国家的经济发展阶段,表明多数国家仍处于经济发展的初级阶段。由此,推动结构转型、加速产业升级和促进经济多样化是实现非洲发展阶段递升的必由之路。

The Sino- Africa cooperation is based on the inherent economic complementarities between China and Africa, which require a better understanding of African countries＇ stages of development, as well as their corresponding advanta- ges, demands and barriers to development. We use three methods to evaluate current stages of economic development in Africa, namely, process of industrialization, competitiveness of nations and New Structural Economics. The results show that a critical mass of African countries identified in initial stage of development, should make structural transformation, industrial the only way to improve the stage of deve upgrading lopment in and economic diversification as Africa.
