中国官府藏书历史悠久,影响深远。作为皇权政治的工具,官府藏书受众狭窄、重藏轻用。但长期以来,它在管理机构、书籍分类与整理等方面又积累了大量的有益经验,其社会作用不可忽视。

The official collections of books in China boast a long history. As a tool of imperial politics, the official collections of books had a very limited audience, so it in a sense emphasized how to collecting books but overlooked how to use them effectively. Still, they accumulated lots of beneficiary experience in how to manage their circulation, how to categorize them, and how to arrange them in proper order. Therefore, its social role is not to be ignored.
