New Intepretation of History of East Asia——About Between Dependency and Autonomy by Takashi Okamoto

日本学者冈本隆司的《属国与自主之间》,从东亚史及全球史的宏大视角来深入考察近代中朝关系,显然有助于扩大近代中朝关系史的研究视野。著者在广泛了解先行研究成果并搜集丰富的多国多语言史料的基础上,通过细密的分析与探讨,努力阐发新见,不失为日本学界有关近代中朝关系史研究的一个最新代表作。然而,该书未能从文本及历史语境的角度来明确区分"属国"与"属邦"的区别,有关李鸿章、马建忠等的研究结论也有待进一步商榷。

Between Dependency and Autonomy by Takashi Okamoto explores modern China-DPRK relations in view of the historical backgrouds of East Asia and history of the world. This is obviously of great help to deepen the researches concerned. With a careful review of the achievements and a collection of historical data in multi-languages, Takashi Okamoto proposes new findings and makes his work the newest representative. However, ＂dependent country＂ and ＂dependent state＂ have not been defined clearly according to different texts and historical back- grouds in his work. Besides, more discussions should be made about the comments on Li Hongzhang and Ma Jianzhong.
