摘要
哲学对语言的研究历史十分悠久。20世纪初一大批各个学科的人才基于对语言问题的共同兴趣,创立了分析哲学的新传统,同时重新燃起了哲学对语言问题的兴趣。这一兴趣并没有停留在分析现有语言上,而且延伸到了构造全新的科学预言这一课题上,最终导致机器语言在人工智能领域的大范围应用,成为了这一探索最新的成果。当然,不论是探索的工具还是探索的对象,都无法脱离我们每日使用的自然语言。本文正是想要通过自然语言和哲学分析两者互动的历史,来揭示这一领域的研究是如何呈现出今天的面貌的,同时也希望对这一学科现在面临的困境有所启迪。
The philosophical study of natural language dated back to the Greeks, yet a new wave of lan- guage analyzing from a group of mixed background in early 20th century has ignited debates and consequently somewhat redirected the interest of philosophers for the entire century. Researchers didn＇ t refrain from merely observing, they attempts at reforming natural language to an ＇ideal language＇ which is both rigid and expressive. While the attempt has largely failed, the task has been taken by computer scientists to the level that pervasive application of formal language in computer systems marks the apex of this endeavor. This paper summarized the process and its struggle while hinted some future obstacles in the hope that it will provoke some further investigation.
