Current Situation and Countermeasures of Autonomous Learning in Universities in the West

培养学生英语自主学习能力是大学英语教学的重要目标之一。然而目前大学生英语学习过分依赖课堂和教师,其独立思考和自主学习能力较差。通过剖析西部高校大学英语自主学习的现状,探讨影响和制约英语自主学习能力培养的因素,提出提高大学生英语自主学习能力的对策。

Cultivating autonomous learning ability is one of the important goals in college English teaching. However, the present English learning relies too much on classroom teaching and the teacher, thus the students do not have the adequate ability in terms of independent thinking and independent learning. Through the analysis of English autonomous learning in universities in the west, the paper puts forward countermeasures to improve autonomous learning ability by discussing on the effect and restricts of cultiva- ting autonomous learning ability.
