Teachers play a critical role in teaching reform.Teacher development entails self-motivation and self-innovation.Concerning teacher development,the Craft Model focuses on the tacit know ledge of teaching skills;the Applied Science Model emphasizes the guiding function of scientific know ledge;the Reflective Model gives first priority to teachers＇ reflection on teaching practice;Chess-MasterModel features its methodology of teaching video analysis in integrating teaching,research and selfdevelopment.In-service university English teachers can achieve self-development through strategies such as teaching journal,teaching reflection,teaching video analysis and academic paper w riting,thus refining teaching skill,enhancing research ability as w ell as reform and innovation ability.
