在汉语成语翻译的具体操作过程中,首先要充分理解汉语成语的内在含义,灵活运用直译法、意译法、直意译结合法、对等翻译等常用的汉语成语的英译方法,其中以直译法最为重要。论文通过对比英汉语言成语的异同,进行适当的结构调整,将汉语成语承载的文化特色和信息最大限度地传译给外国读者。

It is good if both the content and the form of an idiom can be translated , sacrificed to convey the content. This essay analyzes the differences between English otherwise, form may be and Chinese idioms by some typical examples concerning Geographical environment, customs, historical culture s and religious belief etc. It is difficult to translate Idioms because of their unique cultural backgrounds and their distinctive charac teristics, we cl use four translation methods to present an adequate translation of an idiom： literal translation, free translation, equivalent translation and literal translation combiner with free translation.
