Identification has been a focus of concern in terms of literary works. In African American literature, it seems to be a permanent topic, highlighted by both the writers and the critics. A Raisin in the Sun by Lorraine Hansberry, a famous African A- merican woman playwright, deals with the identification of African Americans in early period of the Civil Rights Movement, which is embodied in the orientation to the mainstream American society by the majority of African Americans who considered them first as American and in the choice of return to Africa by some who strongly associated them with their ancestral root. Identification is the way to self- realization. People choose the approaches in accordance with the social situation and their self-definition.
