4 methods for determining the total iron mass fraction in basalt were compared in terms of test data consistency, data accuracy, test operation easiness and more, and total iron mass fraction in different basalt samples were determined using 4 methods. The comparison showed that of which the results by ICP-AES were slightly lower, the test results of these 4 methods were fairly close, those by oxidation-reduction method were higher, and those by complexometric titration and spectrophotometry were most accurate.
