Research into Zhuhai-Macao Cooperative Crackdown on Smuggling

珠海和澳门唇齿相依,经济往来频繁,走私活动也十分猖獗,两地海关和警方有必要开展刑事司法合作。实践证明,合作才能有效地遏制走私犯罪。但两地存在法域冲突和执法差异,克服这些障碍,是两地必须共同面对和解决的问题。

Border-crossing practice is one of the main characteristics of smuggling, which calls for criminal jurisdiction and law enforcement crossing legal units. Since there is a very close interdependence on social and economic development between Zhuhai and Macao, it is quite necessary for mutual customs and police forces to carry out criminal and judicial cooperation. It has been proved that cooperation does help curb smuggling successfully. However, there are conflicts and differences in terms of jurisdictions and law enforcement, hence, the two sides must work together to overcome these obstacles.
