Based on the first-hand examples from The Wall Street Journal, an authoritative writing on world＇s financial news, this paper probes into the language features of tendency sentences in financial news. Though sharing the common features of news, financial coverage stands out for its uniqueness. Tendency sentences are commonly used in financial coverage to show the possibility of future development or have a comparative study. With the wide use of short and powerful verbs or verbal groups, as well as the comparative and highest forms of adjectives, financial news make it possible for readers to catch the central idea immediately.
