Objective To evaluate the effect and safety of nasal synchronized intermittent mandatory ventilation(NSIMV hereafter) on neonatal hyaline membrane disease(HMD hereafter). Methods 57 neonates with HMD were divided into NSIMV group and NCPAP group randomly. The NSIMV group was treated with NSIMV, and the NCPAP group was treated with nasal continuous positive airway pressure(NCPAP). The efficacy and complications of the groups were observed. Results The number of cases of tracheal intubation and the incidence of apnea of the NSIMV group were significantly less than those of the CPAP group, the time of mechanical ventilation was obviously shorter than that of the CPAP group, the differences were statistically significant(P0.05). The difference in the incidence of complications between the groups was not statistically significant(P0.05). Conclusion NSIMV is safer and more effective than NCPAP, which is worthy of promotion.
