辜鸿铭“求统一”整体翻译观论析

On Ku Hungming's Translation as a Connected Whole by “Seeking for Unity”

王国维在《书辜氏汤生英译〈中庸〉后》一文中,对辜鸿铭翻译中的"求统一"给予了严厉的批评,认为其译文不够忠实精确。但从对外文化传播的角度来说,辜鸿铭一贯主张的有机整体翻译观与其"求统一"之举,却有可取之处,也给当前的文化外宣翻译中译者该如何译有所为提供了启示和借鉴。

In his article ＂A Commentary on Tomson Ku＇s English Version of Zhongyong＂, Wang Guowei harshly criticized Ku Hungming＇s strategy of ＂seeking for unity＂, holding that Ku＇s translation is unfaithful and in- accurate. However, in view of international cultural communication, Ku＇s claim of translating the original text as a connected whole and his ＂seeking for unity＂ in the translated text should be justified, which provides an enlighten- ment for contemporary translators about how to do overseas -oriented cultural publicity translation effectively.
