Because of the universal fear of death and loss and lots of similarities in religious beliefs, Japanese and Westerners share some similar views of life and death, including love of life, respect of the dead, living a good life and a brave heart for death. However, due to the differences in values and spiritual beliefs, Japanese and Westerners disagree with each other in terms of responsibility of death, moral judgment of the dead, suicide and the fine home of soul, etc. There exists not only agreement but also contradiction between eastern and western cultures.
